Ashmita Annamalai is an undergraduate student at the University of Pittsburgh majoring in Neuroscience with a minor in Chemistry and certificates in Global Health and Bioethics. An aspiring physician-scientist, she is dedicated to advancing equitable healthcare at the intersection of pediatrics, women’s health, and global health, a mission she carries forward as Director of Outreach at GHSEN. Nationally recognized by the U.S. Congress for her leadership and advocacy, Ashmita has shaped youth behavioral health legislation and educational reform through collaborations with the U.S. Senate, California Department of Education, and California Department of Justice, as well as with academic and nonprofit partners including UC San Diego School of Medicine, Stanford Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, and Mental Health America. A trained dancer, her love of art and expression shapes her vision of medicine as both a science and a humanistic practice.
