Faraan O. Rahim, BS
FOUNDER / DIRECTOR
Faraan Rahim is a Harvard Medical Student, global health researcher, and 2024 Samvid Scholar who is dedicated to improving health systems in the U.S. and in sub-Saharan Africa. Fluent in Swahili, Faraan has spent three years conducting research in Tanzania focused on implementation science methods to address non-communicable diseases such as heart disease. He has also collaborated with public health leaders in Kenya, Congo, Uganda, and Gambia, producing 25+ research articles published in top journals like BMJ and Nature Medicine.

Anzibert Rugakingira, MD
RESEARCH ADVISOR
Dr. Anzibert Rugakingira is a Tanzanian physician, public health specialist, and health economist at the Tanzania Ministry of Health. He currently services as the monitoring and evaluation officer of the World Bank’s Tanzania Maternal and Child Health Investment Program. Dr. Rugakingira will guide AHSIL in networking with leaders at Tanzanian health systems, accessing country-wide data via the Tanzania National Insurance Scheme and the Ministry's other databases, and writing research articles for Tanzania-specific projects.

Serge Emmanuel Holenn, MD
RESEARCH ADVISOR
Dr. Holenn serves as the Vice Minister of Public Health in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where he leads efforts in strategic planning and policy development to advance public health outcomes. With a strong foundation as Chief Medical Officer at SOS Médecins de Nuit SARL, he honed analytical skills that empower his impactful health initiatives and drive change. His leadership is characterized by a commitment to community health and preventative measures, emphasizing the creation of robust public health frameworks in Congo.
